Well I've seen it and I was fucking floored to say the least. You should have rambled, Aaron. This movie fucking demands it!! Lol. This was a DVD purchase well worth the money. Wish there was a commentary track, though.

Eric, I don't think it's feminist per se. My point is that someone could argue that it is, and that I interpret it as more of a feminist film that misogynist. I agree with you though, though, that the ending is sort of like a sucker punch (but in a good way).

I agree with you to a certain extent. I don't think either McKee or Roth have showed their full potential, or made their "masterpieces" so to speak, for anyone to say who the better filmmaker is. I know what you mean though... Roth seems to have more clout in Hollywood, but I think a large part of that has to do with him being friends with Tarantino. Glad to hear you're a fan of THE WOMAN as well.

I agree that this is one of the best of the year, although it didn't strike me as particularly feminist. It seemed more like McKee wanted it to appear so to draw a wider viewership in before smacking them in the face with pure nastiness in the end. To me it felt a lot more like an old-school exploitation film than the kind of "horror with subtext" film that seems to be a trend. Either way you read it, I loved the fact that I couldn't figure it out while watching it.

This was one of my top films of last year and although it's far from an easy film to sit through, with it's ending completly catching me off guard, as you think your know were it going, only for McKee to pull the carpet suddenly from under the audiences feet.

Lucky McKee is definatly one of the most underated Horror directors and the guy that we should have been look at, when most critics were hailing Eli Roth as the savior of modern horror.
